HiYa Ducky here. Well, I am going into hiding after this morning. Mum bundled me off to see the VET in the PTU. Bah. I am back home and healthy, but still....

Derby saying farewell to me, just before mum put me in the metal monster.
Waiting to go into the exam room, we only had a few minute wait. First appointment of the AM.

My weight. A nice 8 pounds 9 ounces. Good for a little guy like me.

Ready to head for home. Mum thought she heard me hiss softly as we waited. Yeah, I don't care for this.

Once home, mum let me out of the PTU and I ranned to the dungeon for a few minutes. Derby followed and chased me, but that only lasted a few minutes. Now we are ignoring each other again. Mum gave me some extra cuddles too.

I hopes the rest of you have a good weekend. Mine will be improving since I am back home.

Great Backyard Bird Count

We forgots to mention this earlier, but this weekend is the weekend everyone can count fevvers and report them!
You can go here to find out exactly what to do, but simplest, is spend 15 minutes over the next four days counting fevvers. You can count anywhere, at home, at work, out in the park at play. This helps all the science guys and gals learn where all the birds are.

We officially count fevvers every weekend for Project Feeder Watch, but we got started by doing the GBBC!

So we will be napping and watching all weekend. We get a mum day on Monday, she doesn't have to go day hunting that day.
Oh yeah. Mum got older today. She says another year closer to being tired. Oh that's retired!

Derby sending deep purrs and meows to my heart throb The Princess Mia Bella. She actually asked me to be hers a few years ago. I like a lady cat who knows what she wants and goes for it. Isn't she just the lovely-est tuxie! She's my Tuxie Cat of Texas!
Ducky here, ::sigh:: what can I say about my little sweetie Dora. I fell in love with her from the minute I saw her when she was just a little kitten. I patiently waited for her until her mum said it was OK for her to have a boycatfriend. Sending so much love to you. Stay warm you floofalicious babe!

HiYa, Ducky here. It is my two year gotcha day!

I am so happy that I was gotted on this day two years ago by mum. Having had a different home before this one, I wasn't sure what it would be like. Would it be the same as the first one, different? If different, better?

Oh yeah, it is better, WAY BETTER.

Mum loves me and I loves her right back. I get treated nice, lots of noms and treats. Toys to play with, warm and snuggly places to nap. I even sleeps on top of her at night!

Not much going on, just that you know we have get our paw in enough to let you know that nothing is going on.

Warning, a week from today is V-Day, so if you have a sweetie, get prepared. We are not prepared. Mum, we have to get working on this.

Hello and welcome to Monday. We had a good weekend. Lots of sun puddles to nap in, mum to sit on for warmth, treats from mum. Mum was reading Max's mum books this weekend. We found that Max actually made it into the books! Cool. Mum, can you write a book with us in it?
The days are getting longer, mum is getting up earlier since the sun comes up earlier and yesterday we noticed just a tiny sun splash on the back of the house on the window frames. In another week it should be actually splash inside the house.

Final Feetsball Report

The Stouper Bowl champions are The Giant peoples team. We weren't really concerned who won, but in some ways it is nice that our team the Pack, losted to the eventual champs.

Plus we need to send our purrs Poppy Vic of Zoolatry, Maggy and Zoey's human dad, he is dealing with the "c" disease. We all know how hard that can be. So big PURRRRRS to you.

Happy Monday one and all. We had a good weekend. Tiny bit of snow that brightened up the ground. That made the fevvers come around more and we could see them so easy too.

Mum did her usual stuff this weekend, including getting the rug sucking monster out. When she does that she picks up all of our toys first so that they don't get eaten. But if we want one, we have to go pick it out of the pile on the table. Ducky really wanted the nip nanner.

While we had snow, it came overnight, so we had lots of sun puddles to nap and play in during the day. Mum even sat at the kitch-hen table on Sunday afternoon to catch up on some paperwork and soak up the sunshine. We think mum is a bit solar powered like we kitties are.

Otherwise it was a pretty quiet weekend. Mum didn't even watch much of the feetsball game last night with the bowling pros. Isn't all that excited about next weeks game either. Guess we watch for the commercials.

Mum is way off on her days. She wrote the wrong date on her check at the food store on Caturday. First she put 1/21, then corrected it to 1/27. Plus our video from Caturday says 1/27 but in fact the day was 1/28. Mum, please refer to the calendar. At least she didn't go day hunting on a day she didn't have to.

We told you on Caturday that we smelled ham and turkey in the food hunting stuff. Well it wasn't much, mum fixed some eggs on Caturday for lunch and put the the meat. Yes we got a little bit too, but now its gone. Mum has been trying to eat stuff out of the freezer to make sure the old stuff is gone before it goes bad.

This is us, not doing too much. Napping, watching a few fevvers and sqwerls. Bright outside with a little bit of fresh snow. Mum went out and cleared the snow, then went food hunting. We smell HAM and TURKEY.

Mum when she was done with the video got out the rug sucking monster and then worked on Derby's yak spot.

Mum needs to do the laundry yet too. We want clean sheets to sleep on tonight with you.

Yes kitties, we got chick-hen. Just not right away. Mum used some of it in last night with pasta and fredo sauce last night. We got some little bites too.

Tonight we got some bits of turkey and ham from her sandwitch, plus a lick of her finger from the soup.

So kitties, yes we do get more than the dry crunchies. Just in little bits here and there.

Now it is nap and cuddle time. Mum has her book out to read. No speeches tonight for us, the picture box is OFF.

HiYa, Ducky here, hope you all had a good weekend. We did ok, with getting naps, treats and extra noms. Plus mum filled up the big food bucket with a new bag of crunchies. Guess we have foods for a while.
Mum stunk up the house this weekend and boy did it smell good. Derby had to snoopervise here while she cooked little pieces of chick-hen.
Getting all nice and brown, with just a little oil of olives in the pan. When done she put them in a little container for later. Will use them when she does some pasta and fredo sauce this week for dinner. Has enough little chick-hen things for more than one meal too.

So you guys don't remember how I get up here? Well mum posted it a year ago, the second time she caught me up there. The first was in the middle of the night. Go here to see that video and another one here. Since mum has not caught me in mid-jump, here is my path.

Top of the puter printer and jump to the top of the cupboard. Then it is an easy leap to get to the top of the window thingy. Then back to the cupboard in the corner, then down to one of the tables. EasyPeasy!

We had a decent weekend. We did get treats and lots of them over the weekend. Specially on Sunday. Ducky got shut in mum's closet, so we both got treats to make up for it. He was only in there a couple of hours. He went in when mum got dressed and hung up her robe. Then she went shopping and doing laundry. When he wasn't around for a few hours mum went looking for him, open treat jar in hand.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - Yep, they losted. They deserved to lose, poor defense (which has been true most of this season). Not much offense, lots of dropped passes, fumbles, interceptions. Yep, time to go home and watch the better teams play! Maybe next year you can do better. So no Stouper Bowl party for us this year. We can just watch and enjoy the games for fun.

Grampa Brett - his last game as a Packer, he also losted to the Giants in a playoff game. Plus we thinks is will be our last time reporting on Grampa Brett. Enjoy your retirement life Brett.

We haven't been doing too much today. Napping, eating, bugging mum for treats (she hasn't given us any yet). So just a slow day here. With the snow this past week the ground is all covered and we had lots of fevvers to watch as they came to get their treats.

Farewell Lando Bun

It is such a sad evening. Mum came home and gave us both a hug and told us Orlando bun hopped off to The Bridge today.

I remember well when you taught me to do binkies, then we invented the binkie bop and danced the night away.

You and Fiona were my special NOMSSF (Not of My Species Special Furiend) and felt like an honorary bun with you guys.

Lastly, you came up with the wonderful idea to cellybrate my purrthday every year with tock shots. So we have Tocktober now.

Mr Hawk stopped by and sat in our crabby apple tree, first in one spot, then another. Mum was lucky she had her fancy flashy box ready. Biggify if you need to.

Feetsball Report - Wildcard Playoff Weekend

The Pack - as the number one NFC team, they got the weekend off. So there were games to decide who they will play next Sunday and that will be the Giant guys. Yeah, we beat them a few weeks ago. Plus they gotta come through the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.

Well maybe not all at once, but over their lifetimes, beans could easily have nine kitties.

We had a good first day of the new year. A bit of playing, napping, extra treats. Mum even did the rest of the lobster, but this time she put it into pasta with Al Fredo's sauce. Yes she gave me a little bit again and Derby didn't want it. But tonight, mum didn't have any ice cream for him to lick the bowl.

Yes, yesterday was lobster and butter. Only way to eat it mum says if you are just eating lobster straight up.
Mum finished the crow-shay blankie she was working on. Just has to trim off the yarn ends, then she can give it to the lady at work for her baby to come.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - Ended the regular season with a win with a record of 15 and 1. Our regular QB ARodg didn't play, but his backup guy did good. Team record of 6 TD passes and 480 yards, but mum says the defense has to show up better. Lots of scoring by the other team and it wasn't decided until The Pack intercepted to end the final drive by them Lions. Long game too, nearly 4 hours long, so mum had lots of time to crow-shay.

The Colts - lost the game, gained the first pick in the draft in a few months.

HiYa Ducky here. Yep it is another year. Not that it matters that much to us cats. We cellybrated early in the evening, we listed to Big Ben chime in the new year in London. Wish I could be there to cuddle in the new year with my sweetie Dora.

Mum promised us special noms for our eve meal and she came through LOBSTER!!!!!! That is all she had for dinner, no veggies or salad, just lobster.

About ready to go into the oven. Mum baked rather than broiled them, less likely to over cook them.
All done and ready to eat, and I was ready to dig in too.
Mum giving me some, so good, more please.
Derby, if you won't eat it, and he didn't, I will just take that piece. He didn't eat any of it, oh well, more for me.
He did like licking the butter from mum's fingers!
Dessert! Peppermint ice cream, Derby licking the bowl.
Me, well, I wasn't into it. Guess my tummy was full of lobster.

Treats Review

Thanks for all who stopped by on the making of treats post. Over the past few days, if mum puts some out, we might nibble. Then mostly we don't.

We are much better with the store bought treats, at least for now. If mum puts out a handful of each for us, the store bought ones are gone. The home made ones remain.

We do appreciate that mum tried, they just aren't as nommy as the others. Mum says back to the drawing board and will try again. Good suggestions, using tuna in oil, mum thinks less flour, mooshing up the tuna and water with the blender.

She won't try to do another batch this weekend, maybe some day soon. Let us know if you try them and make any changes.
Mum got home from day hunting early today, but like last Friday had to be on her work puter for coverage. But she gave us treats, ate her dinner and read a book until her boss took over for the rest of the night.

Plus we had a few snowflakes this afternoon. Not much, didn't even cover the grass.

Mum says she got some nommy stuff to fix for new years, but she didn't tell us what she got, at least not yet.

New Treats

Mum got organized over this past weekend to try out these new treats. She got out the stuff from cupboard.
Measured the stuff and mixed it all together.
Dumping in the tuna and then used her hands to moosh it all together.
Used a roller thingy to make the mooshie ball into a flat moosh, the took the cutter thingy and made lots of small pieces.
Put them on a sheet and then into the hot-as-hell box.
Left side cooked, right side ready to go into the hot-as-hell box.
Here is the finished product, and how much it made.

They are OK, if mum puts them out we eat them, but we like our other treats better.

Mum here. I will try them again but do a few things different. First mix the tuna and water together first and get the tuna more broken up then mix with the dry ingredients. So the tuna chunks and flavor are in every piece. Also start with 3/4 cup of the flour and corn meal. Then add just enough of more of the flour/corn meal to make a good dough. Seems too heavy of dough. Also cut in smaller pieces, I was aiming for 1/4 to 1/2 inch size, really should be 1/8 to 1/4 inch size.

HiYa, Ducky here. Yep we have mum well trained. She knows when we want treats, cuddles, playtime, and when we want to be left alone.

Hope all of you have great Christmouse Day with your beans, Mum was around all day on Caturday and them most of the day on Christmouse. She left for a while to go have dinner with Miss Lynn and family.

We finally got our prezzies all opened. Mum didn't help us get them open until yesterday morning. So here is the rundown.
All our Secret Paw stuff all wrapped up from Samantha, Clementine and Maverick. Come on mum, use your thumbs and unwrap this stuff for us.
Lots of goodies, treat, toys and even a few things for mum. Derby making a grab for one of the toy collections that was inside a net sack.
OK, you can't have all of that just for yourself. Mum cut it open, it had some jingle balls and nip toys. Oh yeah, nip toys!!

Then we had the package from my sweetie pie Dora the Explorer. Toys and treats for us, a Simon's Cat calendar for mum. She thinks it is cute, has all of the UK hollidays on it.

Feetsball Report.

The Pack - The Road to the Stouper Bowl goes through Green Bay. They played and beat Da Bears, getting home field advantage through the playoffs. Looked much better this week. ARodg had no interceptions or fumbles, no penalites!!!!!! The defense caught a couple of the passes from Da Bears, which always helps too.

The Colts - they have won two games in a row. Goodness a winning streek. Plus both of our teams won the the same weekend!

The picture above is the same tree as below. As you can see no snow, zilch, zip, nada. This picture below was from December 2009, so you can see how much snow we do get some years. This year, not furry much at all.

We continue to enjoy our new chair, we do ok with the feet rest thingy. Our couch has the same thing, so mum is careful when she puts the feet rest down. The only bad thing is that we can't sit in it and see the moving picture box. So mum can't sit in it and watch feetsball. And what an interesting weekend it was.

Out with the Old, In with the New

No not quite the new year yet, but we got our family Christmouse prezzie today.
This was our old chair that we sat in to watch fevvers, sqwerls and mum would sit a read books too. It was furry old and was from Gramie and Grampie's really old furniture set. Way back when mum still lived with them.
So this morning mum muscled the old chair out into the metal monster room, the got out the rug sucking monster and really cleaned up the carpet. Me checking out my yak spot from the other day. In spite of mum cleaning, I still knew it was the spot. hehehe

Then we got put into isolation and we could hear voices and big foot steps in the house, then she let us out.

Mum decided she wanted a new chair. One good for reading, that would be good to sit in, comfy and be good for us too. She did really good, guys, or yes she did.
This is the new chair, looks nice, but what mum says is a super bonus is that it has a feets rest for her! When she first found it in the store, she was just happy it sat nice. Then the sales guy showed her how the feet rest thing came out!
Mum didn't waste any time getting her feets up and testing it out.
She even did good in picking the fabric. That will compliment our nice ginger furs furry well thank you
Ducky just sitting on the floor, more interested in the fevvers outside at the moment.
Now checking to see how well his furs match up on the chair. Not bad, arms are comfy to sit on, not too high to jump up to.
Watching mum work on the dishes after she cooked three batches of peanut brittle and two different batches of soup. Bizzy kitch-hen day for her.
Sitting on the back, yes, decent view from the top, easy access over to the table with the lamp. Usually something good there to whap on the floor.
Ducky checking out the underside of the chair. Pretty close to the floor but Ducky can get under since he is a bit smaller.

Oh, yeah, we had some white stuff overnight. It will all go away tomorrow in the nice warmer temps we will get.

Gosh, we have had too many kitties head to the bridge lately. Another Admiral HestorB set sail yesterday.
Plus so many other kitties on our get well list, GJ, Mazie Grace, Fin, Tucker, Sam. Gosh those are just the ones we can think of. If you need more, head to the CB to check out the notices.

Plus some of the beans aren't doing as good as they could too. So we have been purring lots.

We heard the communicator thing ring and take a message, we are getting a big delivery. Mum says she hopes we like it. Pictures to follow!

We hope you had a good weekend. We had a nice long weekend with mum around, mum did her shopping stuff on Caturday AM, then spent the rest of the weekend inside with us. So we got lots of cuddles and treats.

A few of your asked about AlPacka socks. These are AlPacka's, all sort of colors. Guess people raise them, take their furs and make stuff with them.
Well these are her socks. She had the little booties on the right, bought 4 more pairs. She had a pair on when she took the picture. Keeps her toes nice and warm.
Did we get anything, well not directly. But mum found the below on making treats!. She hasn't made any yet so we haven't tried them yet, she says hopefully next weekend. So we will let you know if they are any good.

Happy Caturday one and all. So far we are having a good day. Cold outside, but wonderful sun puddles for us to nap in. Mum has gone out, but we are inside, warm and cozy.

First we would like to set everycat straight on our turkey lunch the other day. It was new turkey from the store, not old turkey from the cold box. Mum got it when she got her last thing she needed to make her peanut brittle. Needed cheap butter spread for greasing up the pans, but she ranned by the deli for turkey and the bakery thing for buns.
Yeah, we sent mum out in the cold early so she could go shopping for our Secret Paw pal. We gave her a list, we checked it twice. Regardless if you are naughty or nice, our pal will get their box.

......or treats? Or some combination of the above!

Its in the bag! We won't show anything mum got, but she did good. Has a nice little box to put the things into, then can take it off to the blue shorts man station to send it on its way.

Friday was a quiet day, mum took off and went galavanting over the countryside with Miss Lynn and Miss Jane. Their typical pre-Christmouse adventure for a little shopping, looking and eating. Mum came home with more AlPacka socks to keep her feets warm.

HiYa, Ducky here. We had a mum day today!! Bonus. She didn't go to work again today and won't on Friday either. Mum says she is burning off her last few days off before the end of the year.

So she didn't stay home all day. She did some stuff in the morning, including getting all recertified so she can continue to drive the metal monster. She is all renewed for another 8 years.

When she got home, she made herself some lunch with a turkey sandwich and we got to sample some of the turkey. Still some turkey left so we can get special treats for a few more days.

Then mum got bizzy, bizzy, bizzy. She hauled out all this stuff from hiding in the cupboards and started making this stuff. I watched some, but since it wasn't something I could eat I didn't hang around. Mum says she was making a human treat called peanut brittle.

Derby hung around and he got yelled at. Mum caught him licking the pan that gets all buttered.
Mum even got efficient, she had two sheets so she could cook the stuff and dump it out to cool, then clean the cooking pan and do another batch. She got 6 batches done in a little more than three hours. That is doing good mum.
Plus in between when she had to wait, she worked on the Christmouse cards. Derby checking things out.
All stacked up, cards signed, notes written, mailing and return addresses on, stamps on. Just need their holiday stickers on the back, then they are ready to go. Good job mum.
I just stayed out of her way today. Figured that was the best help I could be. Happy weekend all.

Chez Cats, Elizabeth and Connor wanted to know if what was next to me was an electric typewriter. No, it is an old manual one. Actually it was Grampie's.
Mum never took it back to the dungeon after she tried to use it to fill out a form way back here. She put it in the metal monster and donated it to Good Will recently.

Our Secret Paw assignment arrive last night. We are reading through it and thinking of fun things to send along. It isn't a kittie we check up on often so we have to dig for more information.

Plus we continue to purr for all our our furiends and heck any kittie or woofie or bean that isn't doing well. We well know how hard it is at this time of year to have a loved one who isn't well.

Mum has gotten some of the Christmouse stuff out. Grampie's little tree, door wreath, the jingle bells for the door and red ribbon bows for outside. None of the little white guys have shown up yet. But then there isn't anything white on the ground yet either.
We had a good weekend, lots of napping, watching feetbsall with mum. It included the game on Caturday night when Bucky Badger played in the Big Ten Championship game. They beat the State of Michigan and get to go play in the Rosey Bowl on January 2. Woohoo.

Ducky doing his best to help mum with her crochet project. She expected she would need to have it done by early January for the baby shower. The other department at work scheduled it for December 16! Mum says it won't be done unless she worked on it hours every night. That would make her hands all hurty and sore, if she had the time to get it done. She would rather do a good job and not rush, so she will give her a card that says "I owe you one baby blankie".
The above picture of me staring at the treat jar from the other night, Abby Normal and Stygia said I looked like a loaf of bread! I resemble that remark.

Continuing purrs for our buddies that aren't feeling well. GJ is supposed to go back to the VET today for more tests, DMM is home and seems to be doing OK for now. Pete is now back home too, he had a high fever, got meds and is now back home. Get and stay better everyone, we don't like it when things go all wonky with other kitties. Our purrers have been on high for days purring for you all.

Feetsball Report

The Pack - pulled out a victory in the last few seconds of the game against the Giants to go to 12 and 0 for the season. If you count the final games and playoff of last season, they have won 18 games in a row. A Rodq our QB continues to do good, defense helped out with a pick 6, but the defense is also giving up lots of points.

The Colts - this was Opus' team, and even going to The Bridge this week didn't help his team win. Their record is the opposite of The Pack. Guess the Colts will get the first pick in the draft. Maybe time to find someone to replace Peyton if he doesn't come back.

Farewell Friday for Opus, Get Well to GJ

We bid a fond farewell to our buddy Opus. He had the bestest life, getting to move from Mericky to sunny Italy when his mum got married to an Italian guy. Don't know if he ever learned to meow in Italian, but we are sure he had fun. He joins his brother Roscoe at The Bridge. His mum will miss them so much since they were with her as she moved across the sea.

Plus we send purrs and good vibes to our UK buddy Ginger Jasper. GJ just hasn't been good for the last week or so, not wanting to eat. Monday he goes to the VET for more tests.

First we want to send out lots of purrs to DMM, or Daisy Mae Maus of DMM and the Feline Americans. Here is what was reported on FB.

My mom took DMM to the v-e-t today for me while I was working and the v-e-t wasn't very optimistic about DMM's health. In fact, Dr. Woo wouldn't do the anesthesia to clean DMM's teeth saying it would kill her. Apparently, her kidneys and liver are in bad shape, she has a heart murmur, and was dehydrated. She's getting IV fluids and she's staying overnight ... or maybe two days for observation. My mom thinks that DMM won't see Christmas and I'm so upset I can't see straight. I'm just not ready to let her go, but I won't let her suffer either. Purrs for my Baby Girl would be appreciated. I'm hoping the fluids and B-12 will help her ... Thanks for lending a compassionate ear.

So we are sending lots of love and healing purrs to DMM and all of her family.

Mum sat down to eat tonight and had a big glass of dark stuff to drink. It says truffle on the outside. they better not have squished our dear little lady Truffle to get her into that little box, you better not be drinking her. Mum says not to worry, it is just fancy dark chocolate milk. Phew, we don't want our little furiend in a drinking box.

Mum would not let me have some cuz it be chocolate, smelled good and mum drank it right down. Plus mum says our little furiend Truffle would be vanilla truffle!
So then open my treat box and get me some treats lady!

Hope you had a nice holliday weekend for our Meriky furiends. This means our week with mum is coming to a close. Bummer, we have liked having her home and we know she liked being home too. Says this is practice for retiring, but that will be some years away yet.

Mum promised us turkey this weekend and we didn't get it yesterday. So we were furry bummed out. But she came through today. Made us our own turkey dinner! Yummmy.

Just out of the oven and getting its temperature taken. Just right to come out of the oven.
Waiting, and waiting some more. Come on mum give us some turkey. Mum said it had to rest and she zapped the taters and dressing in the microwave.

...cutting some slices off to eat.
Full plate of turkey, dressing and taters. Mum says that is what she likes best, the carbs! Heck with veggies and pie, give her taters and dressing.

Mum's comments. What I bought was a boneless turkey breast, Butterball made it. I debated just doing a cornish hen, but when I saw this, I got it. Three pounds and it included a gravy packet, didn't have many drippings to add to the gravy however. It was good, I would do it again. Enough but not too much in terms of leftovers.

Garden Thursday - Thanksgiving Day Edition

Hello and Welcome! It's Virginger with your Thanksgiving Day garden report. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our furiends! We hope your dinner doesn't hide on you!
This will be my final report for the year. It has been almost a month since my last post, it is getting colder, the plants have stopped growing and blooming. The trees have shed their leaves. Mum has gotten all of the outside stuff cleaned up for the season.
Yep, that is me sitting on the grill for now. Mum took the big chairs in but has a little one outside to site on while she cooks outside. Yes she is still doing that for now.
The far end of the garden, the red twigged dogwoods waiting for some white snow to show off their bright red branches over the winter. Mum says the snow can wait for a while to come.

The fevver bath with a few plants still present. Mum says the fevvers need places to sit while waiting their turn at the feeder.

Mum pushed down the robin's nest from earlier this year. The bottom was just the rain downspout. Those little fevvers had to sit on metal.
The grape arbor still has grapes on it. Frozen now, so frozen grape pops. In time the fevvers will eat these, frozen or not.
Yep, we see a junco on the arbor looking for a snack. Help yourself little guy.
A few things are trying to grow. The grass where they had to dig up to fix the road is sort of coming in, at the far end it looks greener.
You can sort of tell little shoots of grass are coming through. It has been OK, warmish on some days. Heck today and tomorrow we may be near 60 degrees F! That is warm for this time of year, the boys may get some window whiffing in.
Then the little buggers that mum says grow no matter how cold it is, yep, dandylions! We found this one in the front yard this past week.
So thanks for all of your visits this year. I will be jumping into my nice warm cupboard, sort of like Zolie has with Scooby, Shaggy and Scout. See you next year!

Tuesday, This and That

Happy Tuesday, a happy day for us again, mum is home with us, at least most of the day. Early part of the day mum left to go with Miss Lynn to see Cleo-catra at the local museum. Mum said it was nice, saw lots of old things that they have found under the sea water near Alexandria Egypt.
While they were there they went through the flutterby room, here you see them feeding. Below one of them hitching a ride on the guy's shirt. The flutterby was there the entire time mum was in the room. They didn't stay long, it was super warm and humid in the room and it bothered Miss Lynn.
Mum got home after lunch and sat down with us in her reading chair. We can hang out and watch the fevvers outside. We saw two red-bellied woodpeckers today. Haven't seen them in a while.
Just keeping your chair warm while you went to make yourself some tea!
We sat in the chair reading until it got dark, here you can see me helping mum read her book. She says I am like a door, not a window! I am such a good help.
Mum did get a new book today. All about flutterby's, but that wasn't the book she is reading just yet. She said she wanted a nice book to help her identify them and she finally found one. She can't wait until next summer when she can put it to use.

Mini ManCat Monday

HiYa, Ducky here. About time I got to do MiniManCat Monday. It will be a good week for us, mum isn't going day hunting at all this week. So we will have extra time for cuddles and scritches from her.
Yes, mum found me hanging out in a couple of boxes. Mum keeps them on hand in case she gets in the mood to go through things and put them in storage, or maybe donate them if she doesn't need them at all. She says she really should go through the kitch-hen for stuff she doesn't use anymore. Just don't give away any ham!

Me furring up mum's warmer jacket. Plus you can see mum's walking vest glowing like my eyes. She goes walking when she comes home from day hunting and now it is dark. She doesn't want to get runned over since she has to walk in the street until she gets to the part where she can walk on the sidewalk. Or she found she can do good laps at the local church and they usually don't have church at night.
Although we really haven't had lots of cold weather here, just a day here and there. A few flurries like we had over a week ago, its all gone and we may have weather nice enough for open windows on turkey day!

We are still purring for Kimo to come home. His mum has been out looking for him everyday, leaving foods out, putting up signs, checking the shelters etc. Hopefully with all our purrs he will find his way home.

The Packers - they wonned again on Sunday. Mum says they didn't look as good as they did last Monday, but the result was good. They play again on Turkey Day Thursday.

The Colts - they didn't lose this weekend, didn't win either. They didn't play!

When mum goes to work she drives the metal monster past some shops. She has seen a kittie sitting in the windows of this shop, a flower shop. Finally she had her flashy box with her, traffic was stopped for the traffic light, no one was behind her and the kittie was in the window. TaDa! Mum got the picture. Sort of looks like Beau, doesn't it?

The Packers - Another week, another win. Yipee, still unbeaten. This week's victim was the ViQueens and they almost had a shut out. If it hadn't been for a fumble to give them Queens good field position, they probably would not have scored. Our QB, MVP ARodg, just about purrfect. We loves him. Mum even didn't yell much, just lots of clapping, no words off the bad word list this week.

Mum had our screen porch set up on Caturday, in case she needed it while the new sleepy spots were being brought in the house. We were in the office together instead. But we checked it out early on Sunday just for fun.
Mum did lots of work on Caturday to get the sleepy spot ready, then she ran off to see some of her furiends from the racy car club. They were to have a nice buffet which you can see below.

They had it in the place where they normally play baseball! No games going on, they just had the fancy club spot for their meal and party. Mum liked it that the lights were on that you could see the field. Some of her furiends have never been there before at all.
The tables were on different levels, which was new, but they had seats where she could see the field and see the guys giving out the awards. Mum didn't win anything, but she didn't expect to either.
The second sleepy spot is all put together again. So we can nap where we want again. No closed doors keeping us out. Mum has all of the old sheets from this bed all folded up and will donate them to Goodwill since they won't fit the beds anymore.
Sunday she disappeared to go out to eat lunch. Very unusual for a Sunday. She ranned off to see a couple of cat mum's. Left to right, VictorTabby Cat's mum, our mum, The Crew's mum. They had a nice visit.
When mum got home she walked on the roof to clear out the leaves from the gutters, then blew the leaves into the street. Almost all done for fall outside work.

New Sleepy Spot

It was a strange Caturday round here. First, mum got up earlier than she normally does and turned on her work puter. Didn't do much but said she had to be on to test moving a system change into production. Guess it worked and she was done by noon.

In between she did the laundry shuffle, took all the stuff off her sleepy spot to wash, then shut us out of the room while she used the sucking monster a lot in that room. Then she took all the blankies off Grampie's old bed and shut us out of that room.

Then after lunch she shut us up in the office and we heard thumping and strange voices outside the room. When we were allowed out the other sleepy rooms were still shut out on us.

Once mum got all the washy stuff done she opened the doors and we found a new sleepy spot. It is higher than the old one, so we have to jump higher to get up there.
She got all the nice sleepy blankies on we jumped up to investigate. Hmmm, firm, nice support and all. This should be a great spot to have a nap pile.
Grampie's bed got the same thing, brand new sleeping spot, but mum kept us out of the room. She still has to wash the new sheets. Seems the old ones won't fit it.
So guess we have to nap on the little guest bed for a while, that is where we spent most of the day today anyway. Mum says she will be happy to sleep on the new spot tonight. Guess we will have to cuddle with her!
We will report next week on how it works out for us.We are resting on beauty mum says.

Veterans Day

A quick history, what we now call Veterans Day started out many, many years ago as Armistice Day. It marked the day when "The Great War" or World War I ended and the major hostilities were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. Mum says Grampie was just a little wafer when this happened.

Then many years later, when mum was just a little wafer, some beans got together and said the day should be to honor all military veterans. So they changed the name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Mum says she remembers being in school and at the 11 hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month. They would stand and face east in a moment of silence.

Other countries may observe the day as Remembrance Day, like in the UK and Canada.

The red poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day due to the poem "In Flanders Fields". These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red color an appropriate symbol for the blood spilled in the war.

Well we both are trying to be the leader!Both of us want to be the alpha cat and neither will give in to the other. So that gives us lots to contest with each other.

We found the hour in the clock on the weekend. We thinks mum did get some extra sleeps this weekend. She was also busy working outside on Caturday morning. Started cleaning up the flowers beds and taking the stuff off to the community compost pile. Then she blew the leaves off the lawn, today you couldn't tell she had done anything. Still lots of leaves on the trees yet here.
Once mum got that done she cleaned herself up, then readed books and worked on her new crowshay project. She had a little start on it last week.
Then during the Packer game she did lots on it to get a really good start. Mum says it keeps her from feeding her face during the game.

Me, I decided Ducky needed his ears cleaned out some. I pin him down good here when he sits on the back of the couch by mum. If he squeeks to mum that I got him, she makes me get off. You are spoiling my fun mum. He deserves to get squished now and then.

Feetball Report

Packers - still purrfect but mum was saying all sorts of words off the bad word list at the offense. The defense wonned this game for the team by getting two pick sixes, they only won by 7. They played out in Sandy Eggo in the rain. Heck we had better weather than they did!

Colts - now leading the race for the first draft pick next spring. Holding the dubious honor of the only team not to have won at least one game this season.

Finally for the first time in the past three years mum remembers our blogoversary. About time lady! Hard to believe it has just been five years since I started blogging. Wait, no, it has been six years. I don't have enough paws to count properly. Mum even had to count it out right on her fingers.

It has been a wonderful time over the past years. Made furiends, our beans have become furiends too. We have shared happy times and sad times. Things are better when we share them.

Ducky joined in a little more than a year and a half ago. Yeah, the runt and I manage to co-exist, he is the little cuddle buddy that I am not. So that makes mum happy

We can't amember if we have showed this video before, it actually shows us getting along!

So here we are, six years in. Who knows how long to go!

ManCat Monday - Halloweenie Edition

Yeah, just a few creepy, crawly, mushy somethings for the Happy Halloweenie Day. We loves you, you know we do.

We kitties will be chillin' during the day, then mum will put us in the sleepy room while the sticky little things come to the door looking for candy. Thankfully we have our own treats that they don't get.Mum says they even shortened up the hours the kiddies can come and beg for candy. Last year it was three hours, this year only two. She didn't have many takers last year either. Probably will be a quiet night for her.

Mum put the outside fur-niture away over the weekend. Now we have an open view to the fevvers, sqwerls and chippies. We thinks they run and fly by just to bug us. Plus mum says that in another weekend we will start out counting fevvers on the weekend for Project Feeder Watch.

A movie for the day, we have our black kitties that play funky songs. The new one mum got plays the same song as the first one, so we have stereo. It wiggles its tail while it sings.

How Many Kitties

Mum came across a thing that said how much room a kittie needs and we quote,

"Cats of all ages need stimulation, but what can be done to keep them lively in a rescue shetler? Studies have determined that appropriate housing should include a minimum of 18 square feet of floor space per cat, perches and toys to prevent boredom."

Now what caught our eye was the minimum of 18 square feet of floor space. Well, yes we have more than that. So we tried to calculate how many more kitties mum could bring in. We skipped our garden tour last week since it was Derby's purrthday. Nice to have so many of you visit. This week our garden is getting ready for the cold season.
This planter is still looking good with tphe pink impatients. The other planters are starting to slow down, but we have been frosty but not a bid hard freeze. Mum says she sort of would like that, she hates to cut down things if they haven't frozen.
We saw this little guy in the metal monster room. Maybe looking for a place to stay the winter? Mum says she hopes not!

Mum gave me my purrthday prezzie over the weekend. It is an ESS. We have seen other kitties with these and they look neat, so mum figured we needed one too. We both jumped in and checked it out right away. Heck the first shots she didn't have have the chance to get the store tags off.
We haven't had a moovie lately either, so here we are with our new toy.

Feetsball Report

The Packers - beat down them Vikings. Mum was worried at first, rookie QB and all for the Vikes. But the Pack came back in the second half, intercepting the rookie. Now they get next weekend off.

The Colts - playing late on Sunday, mum won't be staying up for the end of the game. We hopes they win a game one of these weeks.

Grandpa Brett - still retired, wondered if he watched the game between his two old teams?

HiYa, Ducky here. Decent Caturday for us, lots of sun to nap in today. Here is mum taking my picture from outside when she got home. She didn't spend much time at home with us today. Said she had to cover a lot of territory today.

Here is what she did today, get up, eat brekkie, get dressed and left. Stopped at the foods store and bought big bags of kitties foods, but not for us. Then from there she drove way away to a special place and got this bag of bright yarns. This was the only store that had what she was looking for and she was willing to drive to get it.
The one on the left will be made into a baby blankie for a bean at work, same blankie pattern as she has made before, just changes the yarn. But she also likes the one on the right so she bought that one too.

Then hopped back into the car and went to our shelter. She took all the foods she bought to the shelter. They had foods on their wish list and urgently needed kittie foods. So mum figures that rather than just giving them some green papers to got ge some foods. Plus she looked to see if my brick was out, but she didn't see it.

She stopped to say hi to some of the furries, not really visiting hours when she was there but she said hello to some buns.
This big dude was in a special enclosure all by himselves.

Then she came home, did her walk, crunched up leaves on the grass with the grass eating Monster. Then she did sit down long enough to inhale some lunch and watch outside with us.
Mr Squirrel somehow managing not to slide off and feed his face on the suet cake.
Then mum caught Mr Hawk coming through and sitting in a nearby tree. Looking for some lunch too. Mum says the junco birds are back too, they come here for the winter from way up north.

Then she jumped in the hot rain room, got all clean and fresh clothes on and went off for a surprise purrthday party for this furiend of hers. Said she was a whole 40 years young. Well compared to mum it is young.
She got home way after dark, put on her jammies and is just chillaxin' on the sofa. I am going to join her and cuddle.

Just us orinch kitties in this house, but we kitties do come in all sorts of colors and mix of colors. So pick your favorite color and go find a kittie in that color. Give them a good home.

We are sending lots of purrs to our lovely lady furiend Parker. She hasn't been feeling well and now her beans have found out she has tummy cancer. You can head over to her blog to read more. We will be sending lots of purrs and purrayers to Parker, her fursibs and beans as well. Hang in their Parker, we loves you. Around here this weekend we did lots of playing. Mum still has today off so another day to hang with her on Monday. She finished her washing marathon to move the summer clothes into the closet and bring out some of the fall and winterish stuff. It was sunny so we had lots of sun puddles to sleep in, extra cuddles and treats from mum. We will next post on Thursday, that will be Derby's purrthday day. Feetsball Report

Packers - still unbeaten, we beat them Ram guys from St Louis, Misery state. Plus them Lion guys from the Mitten state losted, so now the Packers are the only unbeaten team.

The Colts - still winless, sorry guys. We wish Mr Peyton would come back. But at this rate maybe you will bet first pick in the draft next year and get a new quarterback.

Grampa Brett- still retired

Our baseball team also played against the redbird team from St Louis, Misery. However the Brew Crew didn't do so well. Heck the St Louis baseball team scored more points than the feetsball team. So for us the baseball season is over. Better luck next year.

We are having a sunny but windy day. So we are napping in the sun puddles, mum is on a laundry marathon. Up and down to the dungeon lots today. But she did sleep in today. She was off chasing around at a charity event with not real racy cars but at the race track. She had a good day, her furiend drove them, she said she got to go riding in a convertible at the end of the day with a real race car driver. He went fast, but smooth all around the track. Mum liked that. Plus they raised lots and lots of green papers for charity, which was the point of the day.

So we guess we will just go back to napping.

Welcome to Garden Thursday with me Virginger. It may be fall but we still have things happening outside. One thing is that we are happy the mess is gone with the road work.
Here is a picture of our Russian Sage, sort of going downhill and mum says she needs to get a couple of new ones planted.
Our little maple tree has already losted all of its leaves for the season. Then we get to a plant that shows up on the side of the house. Mum says they are called Chinese Lanterns. Well a few weeks ago we could see the little lanterns starting to form.
This week we went to check on them and something ate all the plants, little lanterns and all!
We do still have our impatients are still blooming, so that is something is pretty still in our yard.

Tuesday, This and That

Yes, that is us, together watching the worker guy TV. It is finally coming to an end, and mum says HURRAY!
Monday they put down one layer of black stuff, which left a bit of a lip to drive through, but mum still parked off on the side street so she didn't have to get out early when they started working. That way she got a bit of a walk in every morning.
Today on Tuesday the put down another layer and finished off the end of our driveway. So mum could bring the metal monster into its own room again for the first time in over a week. Plus she says she can finally get the metal monster all washed and cleaned up again.
They still have to finished up the dirt on the edge of the road, smooth it out some and put grass seed in it. But all of the big, noisy and smelly work should be all gone.

Mum came home after day hunting and then left again. She went out to eat on a day hunting night no less. We smelled crab on her breath and she didn't bring us any! Said it was a farewell dinner for one of the library board members who is retiring and leaving the area. She said she got to try the restaurant at the new hotel in town. Mum said it was OK, but not outstanding. Figured they need to support the local businesses though.

HiYa, Ducky here. We had a nice weekend, we chilled a lot since mum went off to play with racy cars one last time. The weather was good and it was nice to be outside for her. While she was gone we watched them work on the street some more. Mum says hopefully they get it done this week.
Our Brew Crew won the first play off game against the Cardinals, they play again Monday night. Mum says on her way home Sunday she got to see the Goodyear blimp/airship. It was getting ready to land at Timmerman Airport in Milwaukee. So it was real low in the sky and heading down.

Packers - They won, still unbeaten, five wins, no losses. Mum was a bit worried in the first half but our guys came back and beat down them Falcons. Just like they had to back in the playoffs to get to the Stouper Bowl.

We are cellybrating here in Whiskerconsin, our baseball team won tonight to beat the snake team. That means we live to play another day.

We found out a name for our funky plant the other day. Teasel's and they are considered invasive weeds. Thanks to Eric and Flynn, and Team Tabby for telling us what we were looking at.

Plus mum saw a birdie she hasn't seen in our yard before. A tufted titmouse! She didn't have the flashy box out with her so she didn't get a picture, but she was happy to see a new birdie she hadn't seen before.
Mum is going to go off and play with racy cars one last weekend for the season. The weather is going to be good, warm and sunny, so she figures she better go.

Whisker Hump Wednesday

We haven't run whisker hump pictures for a few weeks, mum got a couple of decent ones on us lately.

Yes we have been busy snoopervising the work crews the past days. They showed up again on Monday put stuff inside a machine and as it came down the street it yakked up and made the curb and gutters. Mum can't get the metal monster inside its room, but she can park in front of the house.

Mum says it has to set or cure for a few days before they can do the next step to put the black stuff for the street.
At that time they have to fill in this hole to finish the driveway. Then things should be done, finally. Just in time to have the snow come. Mum says snow can wait for a long time.

Some of you asked how we got them to work? Well the village we live in hired these guys to fix the storm drains and redo the street. So mum and the neighbors just kept calling the village department in charge of streets. Mum thinks they got tired of all of the phone calls and called the company and got them going. As long as they get done and go away we will be happy!

Us helping mum with the dryer thingy. Neither of us went for a ride! Mum can easily see if any kittie is inside before she starts the drying monster.

Nice weekend, we had sunshine. So lots of sun puddles to nap in and warm enough to get open windows. We also had entertainment outside as they are stealing more of our street and even worked on Caturday! Mum barely got her metal monster out to go shopping and couldn't get it back in its room until late in the day.
That is mum's metal monster way in the background, sitting just outside of the work zone. They started this project way back two months ago and still are not done. Mum says they work one day and then don't show up to do anything more for weeks. So she talked with the neighbors and they all called to complain! So they worked two days in a row, Friday and Caturday. Mum says they better be back today too.
Big truck to dump rock and a roller to smoosh it down. So is that a rock and roller?
See the big jump from where they stole the curb? By the end of the day they had enough rock that you could drive in and out again.
This guy was parked out front of the house when it wasn't pushing rock around.
Yeah, we watched, something other than fevver TV to watch.

It was a purrfect sports weekend in Whiskerconsin. The Packer's won, Bucky Badger beat up on Nebraska Caturday night. Our local Brewer boys won two games from the snake team called Diamondbacks. Mum watch lots of the games but she also took herself to see a special showing the the local movie theater. They showed the 25th anniversary show of Phantom of the Opera. It is one of mum's favorite shows.

Thankfully our immediate family isn't affected by this nasty scourge, but we know people whose lives have been touched by cancer. Some fought successfully, some not. We remember them all today for their gallant fight.

Hello and Welcome to Garden Thursday. Virginger here with your weekly tour. Please feel free to biggify any picture to get a better look.

While Mr Fall is here, the daylight hours are shorter, things are still happening outside.
Our pet-unias still blooming, but what is that yellow thing that is blooming. We didn't put that in the box. The fevvers or a squirrel probably planted it.
The side of the house by mum's sleepy room. The ferns are starting to die back now, just a month ago they were all full and lush.
The grapes are ready to go, lots of them hiding in the leaves and we can see the fevvers fly into the arbor to get a snack. Mum just leaves the grapes for the fevvers, something special for them to eat in the fall.
The bath for the fevvers, all clean and full. The fevvers need water to drink all the time, so we need to keep it full.
Our trumpet vine still has a few blooms. We saw hummer birds on Sunday flying around. Mum went to a talk at the library last week on fevver feeding. The guy said you should keep your hummer feeder out for two weeks after you see the your last hummer. We will watch again this weekend to see if they are still around.
Mum thinks this is goldenrod. She didn't plant it and cuts most of it down as we really don't want this in the garden. Or at least not much of it around.
This is another weed, Joe-Pye Weed or the official name is Eupatorium purpureum. Good for flutterby's and such, plus it blooms late in the year. We need more of plants like this.

We did lots of napping on Sunday too. It was a cool and rainy day, but mum broke down and turned the heaty monster on in the dungeon. So it was all nice today to nap and not have to snuggle up for heat with each other. Mum didn't have to wear her jacket in the house either!
Yes mum I see you there with that flashy box. Leave me to my nap please.
See mum's bookmark? It sort of looks like Ducky. Maybe a little bit of longer fur. Since mum has the sniffy, sneazy's she gotted a whole big book read between Caturday and early Sunday afternoon. Then she could concentrate on two things Packer feetsball and crow-shay.
Ducky helping her work on the crow-shay and then when that was all done, we both got to inspect!
It is all done. Well except for the little bit of finishing stuff she has to do for tying up the lose ends where she started a new bunch of yarns.
Hopefully this shows the color good for you. Baby won't be here until probably near Christ-mouse.

HiYa, Ducky here. We have been having a quiet day. Mum did her usual stuff, getting foods to eat, doing the laundry. Then she fit in a walk, says people in the neighborhood have their Hallow-weeny stuff out already!

Derby and I just chilled, did lots of napping. Mum curled up with her book and did lots of reading. She also has the sniffy, sneezy's, which makes her tired. But she was good enough to grill some chick-hen for supper and give us some to eat. Yum
Just us curled up together this afternoon. Napping and staying warm. Mum has yet to turn on the heaty monster in the dungeon. She is wearing a jacket in the house. Hey, if you are cold, what about us? Even with a fur coat we can get cold.

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday. Virginger here to guide you through our tour of the garden this week. It is slowly turning to fall here.

Last week week we showed you the hen and chicks in the container. Here they are planted in the ground. Iffin you biggify the picture you can see some bigger parts, which is the hen. Then the little surrounding parts are the chicks. Mum says in time the chicks become hens and have more little chicks.
This is our vine that grows over the gate, an autumn clematis, pretty little white flowers.
Our little maple tree in the back, starting to change colors.
Mum got a shot of Mr Nuthatch at our feeder. Mum had to go buy lots of fevver food this past weekend. The little guys are eating lots of foods. Some of them will be flying off to winter quarters, the rest will be staying here for us to watch during the winter. Mum even went to a talk last night about good ways to feed fevvers. Even though she has been feeding for years, even she learned a few things.

Hello, Viriginger here and welcome to Garden Thursday. Muumy is making all sorts of bad noise at the puter while she helps me with this. It is typing all wonky and not taking our words at times!
I found a day lily hiding and all in bloom this past week. Not sure how this guy got here and why he is so slow. Next to the house, not in the big garden.
Our sedum plants just beginning to show some pink on them, that means fall is coming soon.
Then mum brought home a chick-hen to plant. Hmmm, I thought you cooked chick-hen and the boys always want a taste. Mum is telling me it is a type of plant called Hen and Chicks. Little plants that grow, the bigger parent ones are the hens, the new ones are the chicks. Strange, but we will have to get a picture of it in the ground.

The hazy, smoky stuff seems to be gone. Been nice and clear and actually has a real touch of cooler weather. Time to snuggle up!

Helping Mum

HiYa, Ducky here. Hope all of our furiends are doing well. We have been just been hanging out, the weather is turning cooler again and makes it nice but mum says it is hazy and smokey out from a big fire far, far away from us. Mum says we need to say it is way up north in Minnesota.
Me guarding mum's big bag. It holds all of the stuff she takes with her on the weekend when she goes to play with racy cars. Most times she doesn't need most of it, but prepared with rain gear, extra hats, gloves, warm stuff to put on. Plus a radio to listen on.
Last time she went to play with racy cars she took her crow-shay along to get some work on it. Plus pictures out in the natural light.
Me the other day helping mum work on it. She says I was so helpful, but heavy and warm on her lap.
Here is the last picture taken on the couch. Mum says she is about 70% done, a couple of feetsball games and it will be done. That is when she mostly works on it is during the Packer games. It is for a bean at work who is having a sticky little thing, and she wanted these kinds of colors.

We have good tales to tell of our tails. If your beans pay attention they can tell you how we are feeling!
Both of us eating at the same time and you can see how much Derby is than I am, but I am not scared of him.
Derby invading mums place for her cooking stuff. Derby said he was smelling for mousies! They used to sneak into the spot above this place all the time. Mum was not happy about that but lately our pest man has been keeping them outside which mum likes.

Derby's tail from way back when at a time he wasn't happy with mum. So he was hiding and you could just his tail. You can see the whole series of pictures here.

Me with my tail all poofy! I wasn't happy about something. I think that was when the pest guy was checking out our roof and attic.

Yes feetsball fans, the season has started.

Packers - started out well for us Packer fans. As fitting they started out the season last Thursday, defending Stouper Bowl Champs and beat them Saints guys. Purrfect season, at least so far.

Grampa Bret, well for the first time in recent history the season has started without him. Guess he will have to stay home and play with his grand-kid and mow his lawn.

The Colts - mum's favorite other conference team, though she mainly liked them for Peyton M and he won't be playing anytime soon.

We just want to set aside some time to purr for Beau. His mum ran off to heaven before him last week and we are sure he is missing her. We hopes Beau finds a loving home until he meets up with his mum again.

It is a weekend to send out comforting purrs to all our beans. Mum says Sunday 9/11 is a day for remembering in Mericky of lots of beans who were innocently killed by people who hate Mericky people. Hating is not nice, let's be kind and love one another.

Hello and welcome again to Garden Thursday with me Virginger. I have lots of stuff to show you today.
Mum worked furry hard last weekend and cut down the weeds and such from the main garden and other flower beds. So it looks all neat again and just the good plants remain. She hopes!
Here is the pile of all of the stuff. Hopefully mum will get a chance to cart the stuff off this weekend. Provided it doesn't rain and get all wet. Mum won't put the wet stuff in the car to haul off.
Our grapes are starting to get purpley. Soon they will be eatable, but mum usually just lets the fevvers eat them.
Our old inside out tire with impatiens in it. Still growing and looking good for the summer. With all of the hots we had, not everything did well, even when we watered them.

Now for our, or at least mum's find. She found some other kitties who can share the outside with me. So introducing left, Dora, and right, Mia. Mum says they can stand in for the boy's sweeties.
Dora is a bit tortie-ish and Mia is a tuxie. Next summer they will get to have flowers inside of them.
Here we all are together. I am happy to welcome these two cuties to my outside fun. We girls get to be outside. The boys are inside! Ha!

Who does this guy think he is calling a "pyg". Sheesh, we eats pigs, you know ham, bacon, that kind of stuff.

Don't forgets on Friday, 09-09 is Mo Cat's Day. I say so myself. Ducky too.
Our holliday weekend is going pretty well. Not very busy for us. Mum has been working outside and liking it. The weather turned much cooler and it is nice to be outside working. She has been attacking the weeds in the garden and flower beds.

We have also been doing some napping, mum has neatened up the kitchen and is ready to start working on going through stuff that she doesn't need or use in the kitchen. It can go to people who can use it, since she doesn't use it.

Plus the hots went away. So nice to have the windows open again.

Happy Holiday weekend to all of our Mericky furiends. Plus a super big shout out to ML, who keeps us all informed with the Cat Blogsphere site. Heck if we didn't have that, we really wouldn't know what is going on. Plus she has a great bunch of kitties, Missy Blue Eyes, KC, Faith Boo, Sol, Smokey, BJ. Gosh six kitties, we are just us two.

Thanks for all you do ML, we loves you.
Mum got home a few minutes early from day hunting today. That was nice, but she had to meet our pest control guy, Scott. He came in and let Derby sniff his fingers and Derby gave him a huge hiss. The pest guy laffed, and said Derby was smelling raccoons and opossum's.

After Scott left mum went outside to grill dinner, a little steak. Yes we got a taste. But while mum was cooking all the little fevvers scattered! Heck the bushes were shaking with all of them diving for cover. Yep, then the hawk flew threw the yard, but every one was safe.

Mum says we are going to chill this weekend both inside and out. The hots came back but should be gone by Caturday night. Then we can chillax and have our windows open.

Garden Thursday

Welcome everyone, Virginger here again to show you the garden. Plus happy September with this being the first day of a new month.

Yes we have a dove taking a bath, but what I want to point out to you is a little gem sitting at the bottom of the base of the bath. You can't read it here, but you can see a little something sticking up.
A cute little rock that says our garden is a butterfly garden. Yes it is, we see them and fevvers and other wild creatures coming to eat.
Yes, there is a pretty yellow swallow tail, sitting on top of the ornamental thistle.

The guys have not been back to work out front, it is still a big mess. Mum is not happy about that, she wants the project done so that the mess will go away.

HiYa, Ducky here. Well tonight I have to wish my sweetie Dora a safe journey. She needs to teleport back to kittie jail so her beans can pick her up tomorrow. She will be back home on Wednesday.

ManCat Monday

We found out some sad news over the weekend. Our of our original buddies on the Cat Blogosphere, Edsel, lost his human mum to brain cancer.

Me, Derby, remembers way back when we first purred for his mum as she started to go through her first treatments. You may see other long blogging kitties doing a remembrance to Edsel's mum on their blogs over the weekend.

Edsel is a good guy, a handsome tuxie, much loved by his mum and dad. He was fun to be around and was a wonderful tub hockey player. We have missed him being part of the blogosphere after his mum got sicker. So send lots of purrs to Edsel and his family.

We think most of our furiends did ok through the nasty Irene storm. We had a few kitties teleport over for sunny and dry skies. Nice to see you, glad you are all safe.

We mean this storm. You just leave all of our furiends safe, dry. All the other people and fur kids out there too.

Our weather is supposed to stay all nice. So please feel free to teleport over. Windows should be open, weather dry, sunny sky during the day, starlight at night.

Mum saw us both staring out the front window, so when she went out to water the flowers in front she saw what we were staring at. A dead, rotting chipmunk. Mum didn't take pictures, too icky she said. She took the hose and let the water push it off the cement into the flower bed. It can enrich the soil.

Mum is getting ready to shut down the puter for a while. We are going to watch the Packers play preseason. Plus she needs to work on her crow-shay. We will have to get her to take a picture soon.

Good day every one. Virginger here. I was thrilled to be the center of attention here on Tuesday for Cat Talk Day. Yes, we Squillions are a hardy bunch of 'ramic kitties, spread out all over the world.

The garden is starting to slow down a bit, nothing new but still things to show.
The bee coming to the cone flower to get some foods, and when they can't find enough in the flowers...
they come and raid the hummer feeder. Sweet is sweet.
Then we get some of the fevvers stopping by to take a bath or get a drink. Yeck! Who would want to drink someones bath water. But the fevvers don't seem to mind.
Little goldyfinch coming in to get a quick drink.

The boys are inside with their guests. I felt a rumble the other day, probably it was them that caused the earth to quake.

Bummer Bummer Bummer

We has a huge sad. Little mancat in training Beignet didn't make it through his second surgery on Tuesday. Huge purrs to MomPaula and his little sisfur Truffles.

So we are just going to hunker down and purr. Dora and Beau Beau are here hanging out. Mum doesn't have a clue, other than the food dish is getting empty quicker.

On a sadder note Misses Peaches ran off to the Bridge, joining her beloved Mickey. Farewell sweet lady.
Plus we are welcoming house guests. Dora, is coming to visit Ducky, versus hanging out in kittie jail. This is the second time in the past month her beans have deserted her to run off on holiday. Beau Beau is just coming over to get away from his beans. Seems he didn't come home when expected and they were all worried. He thinks he is in BIG trouble.

Plus lots of purrs for Mom Paula and Beignet. Poor little guy had a furry bad reaction to a shot and they found a tumor. Sadly he won't now be coming to live with Mom Paula.

Way too much going on, and not all of it good. Purrs to all.

HiYa, Ducky here. Yeah, we don't like to get wet. My dearest sweetie was outside in the rain last week. Dora wanted her mum to turn off the rain, but mum's can't do that! So she got all wet.

The water we want is in our water dishes. Yes that is dishes. Mum has various places we can drink from all around the house. Plus she got us a new one last week.
Mum likes it because it is easy to fill and clean, no bottle to hold water, just the dish. Although she actually likes it best without the top bubbly slide and just runs it with the dish and the pump to keep the water moving. Derby has used it, mum hasn't seen me drink from it yet.

Derby and I confering this weekend on what to do. We decided it was a good weekend to just chill and mum did the same. We had lots of open windows, cool breezes, grilled chickhen and some ice cream too.

This is what we are doing today. Snoozing with the bears. Cloudy and rainy earlier, now a bit sunny. Mum is doing the laundry and reading. We are all just being a bit lazy today. Yep, we are.

Hello and welcome, Virginger here. Last week I had the password wrong. ::blush:: welcome anyway. Come see what is going on.

On the front side of the house it is all busy and dirty. They are working on burying big, black, tunnels under the ground.
See he was standing there with a stick, then the big machine took some bites out and then...
... you can just see the top of his head and the little shovel thing would drop in rock into the hole.
The guy who drives this around drives like a crazy guy, but he keeps his drinks all fastened to the top of his machine.
Mum saw this hornet or wasp nest across the street. The beans have move out of the house, so no one to tell. We all plan to leave them alone. But enough of the noisy stuff in front of the house. Let's go to the back where we can relax.
Pretty cone flowers with a flutterby on them.
Black eyed susans, who show up so bright all the time.
The flutterby again, taking a long sip on some other flowers. Mum likes to put in flowers that attract the flutterbys to come and visit.
The hummer coming to take a drink. We have been getting to see them more often, and we saw three of them in quick order and they couldn't have been the same one three times. Two were there, and chased each other away, then a third one zipped in while the feeder was open. Guess some of these guys don't get along well.

First of all I want to salute a dear blogging furiend, Kismet. He put the MAN into ManCat. He ran off to The Bridge on Caturday while sleeping with his bean. Farewell buddy, see you again some day. He was hanging out in Whiskercon when he left. Good place to leave, this is God's Country, you know.

We are being blessed of burdened with extra mum time. She is taking some days off from day hunting to catch up on things. Like sleep, cleaning, reading, napping, playing with kitties and startin to crow-shay a baby blanket. Mum says thank cod that football is back, she gets most of her crow-shay done during games.
Ducky hanging out on the end of the couch watching mum do her thing, or maybe she was just resting. He is all dreamy since Dora accepted him as her ManCat.
Both of us inspecting the laundry dryer thing. No kittie was warmed up or hurt. I inspected the insides, Ducky just watched.
Me showing mum by backside while she readed her book. The weather has changed, the hots and humids are gone. Windows are wide open so we get lots of fresh airs, birdies singing and such. Mum says it makes for nice sleeping.

A word of thanks to Virginger for holding the blog for us. She does deserve some more time now and then.Yeah, I admit it, I am an old softy.

Garden Thursday

Hello again and welcome to Garden Thursday with your usual hostess Virginger. First thing to say is the hots are gone and our windows are open. We are all loving that. Above is me checking out the coneflowers, looking for flutterbys and bees. They both love this flower.
Mum has what she calls a sundial in the garden, which is supposed to tell time. Except it is in the shade most of the time. Guess that isn't a good way to tell time then.
One of mum's favorites, Star Gazer Lilly, she had a plant and it died, so she got another one. This was the first bloom and we had 7 blooms in all.

Introducing Miss Shelby

They boys may be back, but I am still in control of the blog, for now. Mum went off on Caturday evening for dinner with Miss Lynn. She also got introduced to the new member of the family.

Back in July we told you about mum's furiend, Miss Lynn, whose woofie ran off to The Bridge. Well Miss Lynn has a new puppy!

Introducing Miss Shelby who is an Irish Terrorist. Oh mum says that is an Irish Terrier! She is now 14 weeks old and will get to be about twice the size she is now.

Getting a hug from mum. Mum says once she sat down on the floor Miss Shelby was so happy and would climb in her lap.
